Under the title "Making transformation happen! The socio-ecological transformation at municipal level", the 3rd Mittelstadt Conference of the Research Training Group "Mittelstadt als Mitmachstadt" took place in Aachen on October 19th and 20th. Research results and practical projects focusing on actor constellations, methods and processes as well as infrastructures in connection with transformation fields in (small) medium-sized towns were presented in 4 tracks. Our research group was represented at the conference by Jessica Hofmann and Mathias Rusche, with the latter presenting initial research findings in Track 4 "Material Infrastructures" under the title "Political Participation in Medium-Sized Towns: On the influence of structural characteristics on the spread of innovative participation instruments".

The third conference on medium-sized towns marked the end of the year for the Research Training Group, which will continue the trialogue between civil society, administration and politics in various formats. We as the "Digital medium-sized city of the future" research group are also involved in this trialogue and are already looking forward to the next networking events with our partner cities.
